Where I pretend to know what I’m talking about

This marks the start of a small column where I’m going to try and make some predictions for how each weeks matches will go. I’mm tally up the points for predictions I get right to see just how little qualification I have for making these in the first place. Now let’s get started…

Dolly vs Tyrannosaurus X

Starting it off with two strong and experienced players, this match seems like a good one to watch. Dolly has skarmory, but TX has a number of strong and fast special attackers like starmie to break through, as well as a barbaracle to sweep once skarm falls. I’m not immediately sold on Dolly’s team, but he has proven me very wrong in the past. Regardless, I’m going 2–0 TX

Matieu vs Fatsloth

Another set of two returning players, both of these two have some strong looking teams backing them up. I see a lot of opportunity for krookodile to come in and sweep much of matieu’s team, but there’s also the bellossum factor. I think Fatsloth has good answers to most, if not all, of Matieu’s strongest pokes so I’m going to go 2–0 Fatsloth

Coahre vs Tiramisu

Coahre returns to the pokemon league to face off against Tiramisu, who had a rather disastrous season three on fairy monotype. Tiramisu’s team is very bulky, especially with support from sylveon as a cleric. Coahre’s team however, looks filled with numerous strong pokemon in various roles, with rotom-w as a pivot, noivern and inteleon as wallbreakers, and golurk to lay some hazards. Coahre’s team looks really strong and able to break through the walls on Tiramisu’s team, so 2–0 Coahre

Dogical vs skynumber5

Logical’s team of huge special attackers against skynumber5’s relatively balanced sqaud. Both these teams kind of want to just click their powerful moves until the opponent dies, but logical has more pokemon that do it. 2–0 dogical

Korgoth vs Siixu

The first of the matchuls to feature a monotype team, siixu leads a squad of fighting types up against korgoth’s team, Which features a number of pokemon that could be problematic, especially gallade. Gallade’s stab combination is able to hit all of Siixu’s squad for super effective damage, making it a strong power player in this matchup. This one looks hard for the fighting squad for sure. With the other pokemon backing gallade up, this one is looking like a 2–0 korgoth

Patchthomas vs Glitchtastic

Another monotype, patch brings his ghost squad up against obstagoon and the starters. Obstagoon can absolutely wreck these ghosts given free reign, but if the goon goes down the ghosts have a good chance of winning this. I think this ghost squad has lot of good tools for this match, so I’m going with my first 1–1

LoneWolf vs Holoホロ

Normal monotype vs the first pick slot. Falinks is going to look to go off for Holo’s team, but otherwise the eevee filled squad might struggle a bit against all these bulky normal types. Drapion offers a key immunity to indeedee spamming expanding force, and will be an important part of Holo’s chances this game. I believe in the power of the normal squad this matchup, 2–0 Lonewolf

Sultann vs SPACEDUDE360000

A newcomer to the server, Sultann is going to look to take out our head admin with an extensive amount of free agents exchanged just before this matchup was posted. Sultann has a lot of pokemon that do not care about sandstorm from ttar, and some which even abuse it harder than Spacedude’s own squad is able to do. On top of that, Sultann’s lineup has a lot of fast, hard hitting pokemon, especially a nice offensive tricore with rapidash, whimsi, and barraskewda. I’m a big fan of this new form of Sultann’s draft, so I’m going to go with 2–0 Sultann

Deathbypudding vs FJFJFJJ

2–0 Deathbypudding. Now that that’s out of the way, It’s unfortunate that two monotype teams have to face off week 1. I will always vote for myself as 2–0 regardless of matchup (unless there’s a ground monotype somewhere) but I feel pretty favored in this matchup. FJ has nothing stronger than mud slap to hit my pokemon super effectively while I have the obvious threat of raichu-a sweeping his whole team. This one is looking like a strong start for me.

bsvhsvj vs Apeshift

Another monotype, this one bug, coming up against bsv’s solid and bulky team. There are some good type matchups here for the bug sqaud, matching up very solidly against the two power players of bsv’s team in slowking and zoroark. I feel like the bug squad is looking very strong this season, and this matchup looks good on paper for most of apeshift’s pokemon. Bsv has a low of power behind his squad, as well as good access to fire type coverage to hit the bugs. This looks like a great series to watch. 1–1

Burrahobbit vs Toth

Sunlight and fire looks to take on the new comer to this league Toth, and their very solid looking tricore. On Toth’s side, Gastrodon can be a huge pain for anything not carrying solar beam, and Incineroar can slap things with knock off while absorbing most fire type attacks with ease. Rapidash-g has some good coverage to hit the fire squad, while dragalage’s raw power on it’s stab moves makes it incredibly hard for the fire team to switch into. On Burra’s side, charizard under sun is an incredibly powerful force with a ton of speed that can easily clean up a weakened team. Talonflame can break through with it’s incredibly high speed and ground, while the other pokemon provide wish support and hazards. I’m going to go 1–1 for this matchup, as I feel like it can go either way depending on a few key predictions from either side.

bloodninja vs killazoid

To start this off, killazoid’s draft look really, really strong. He managed to obtain some of the best pokemon in each tier and craft a very scary looking lineup while also managing to snipe picks across the board. Bloodninja’s sqaud looks powerful, but just a bit too slow to keep up with the greater power and speed on killazoid’s team. Killazoid’s lineup looks like a contender for the top teams coming out of the draft, so I’m favoring 2–0 Killazoid

Style vs DoomCow33

Oh boy does styles team look like a problem. Sharpedo is incredibly powerful and hard to deal with for most teams, and lycanroc-dusk is probably the best pokemon in the entire draft. This is then all supported by a pivot, stealth rock setter, rapid spinners, and a controversial pokemon in Klinklang. It looks incredibly hard for Doomcow to deal with lycanroc without losing a massive amount of his squad to priority rock stab. This one looks really Style favored, so 2–0 Style

VinnySal vs DerpyDots

This one feels hard to predict. Derpy’s draft looks very good, but so does VinnySal’s. Vinny has celebi, p2, flapple, and grimmsnarl, a combination that is very hard to break open without losing all your pokemon yourself, while Derpy has a squad filled with powerful and fast breakers and the always dangerous comfey. This is another matchup that feels really hard to predict, but I think both of these players are going to be able to take a game. 1–1

Glump vs aponzeus

Well it’s unfortunate that the first match played was also the last one on the list so I wasn’t able to finish this before the match was played. I was going to go 2–0 Glump however, as I felt like his squad is another of the strongest in the league and has a very good matchup against the ice squad, with the ability to set alternate weather with gigalith while also slamming rock and fighting type stab moves. And I was right. Play your matches slower idk.

I’ll be using this section in the future to keep track of how my predictions have been going, but sine this is week 1 it’s just gonna be me rambling a bit.I might make power ranking soon idk. Will see how much time I have. Someone else do predictions too so I can see just how bad mine are compared to other people.
